Construction of new self contained autism unit consisting of classrooms, rest rooms, soft play areas, kitchen, external play area together with 2no. Mainstream classrooms and large G.P. hall. Form of construction combination of concrete and steel frame with fair face block-work finish internally, total floor area 894m2. The works also included for new car park and bus set down.

External Work

External ground works included concrete footpaths, tar macadam parking and play areas and an extensive external enclosed play area including fittings for autism unit.


Foundations consisted mainly of traditional strip foundations and pad foundations for steel structure.


Consisted of cavity wall construction / Cedar Cladding with precast concrete insulated roof with rhenofol P.V.C. membrane. The roof to the G.P. Hall consisted of curved steelwork with Kingspan sheeting and standing seam membrane.


Consisted mostly of modern design and detailing.

Work was carried out in live school environment therefore particular attention was given to site security and the inaction between the existing school and the new construction.
