The extension to the existing centre involved a refurbishment of an existing build along with a new build to cater for residents and staff of Moorehaven within their existing town centre complex. The new build of some 600m2 and the existing refurbishment of circa 300m2 had detailed finished for a health based project. The detailed external finishes included insulated render systems, curtain walling, copper cladding oval building, zinc cladding etc. The facility provides ancillary kitchen, office, relaxation, activity and teaching space along with treatment and wash room facilities. A disabled hoist and passenger lifts were also installed.
External ground works included concrete footpaths, wearing course macadam parking in extension of car-parking area and set down areas and paving. Security fencing to the site perimeter and soft landscaping of the courtyard area were also completed.
Consisted of traditional concrete strip foundation and a power-floated floor slab. Extensive existing underground services were encountered and had to be diverted to facilitate foundations.
Consisted of cavity wall infill construction with render finish to new build and insulated render system to the existing build. Roof construction consisted of natural slate and steel framed pvc insulated finished to metal deck on the link building. The relaxation building – oval in shape was clad in copper and finished with a sloped green roof. Floors were a mixture of precast and timber with the roofs constructed with a mixture of timber truss and steel frame.
Consisted mostly of modern design and detailing to suit HSE requirements. Clinicla Sinks, diabled washrooms with p[atient hoists were installed. Recpetion desk and fitted furniture and bathroom fitting were installed throughout along with prefinished joinery and soft flooring.
