Rowlagh Community Centre, Clondalkin, Dublin


Construction of a new 500 sq mt extension in a 4 storey build to the existing facility for South Dublin County Council, together with extensive refurbishment works & alterations to the existing community centre. The project involved significant refurbishment of the existing facility on both floors. The refurbished building will incorporate a new crèche facility on low level, a sports hall, meeting rooms and office space on the upper floors

External Work

Foundations consisted mainly of Lean mix concrete pads to poor ground to carry ground beams and insitu walls superstructure and structural steel frame. External ground works include Limestone paved plaza area, wearing course macadam parking and a soft play open area.


Consisted of lean mix concrete filling & ground beams and insitu concrete floors for insulation details & load bearing capacities.


Consisted of fair faced insitu concrete wall and insitu floors in front extension with an insulated render system to the external envelope in both new and existing walls. The roof construction consisted of Kingspan insulated panels and Trocal Membrane. There is a large triangular roof-light over the centre of the main hall to allow natural light protrude into the Sports hall


Consisted mostly of modern design and detailing. Al. coated facia and soffit cladding. There was extensive external security detailing for shutters, boundaries and a high level of internal finish with a folding partition also included


Details included the consolidation of existing underground services with new services such as low pressure hot water systems and soil waste pipes and the inclusion of extensive updating of existing services. Main features of service specification include the installation of a passenger lifts.
